Sérgio Cunha graduated in June 2000 from the Engineering Faculty in Porto with a licentiate degree in Civil Engineering.
He joined GEG in March 2000. He currently works as Project Manager and is also responsible for the Geology and Geotechnics department. He is also involved in Team Coordination when dealing with multidisciplinary civil design projects, namely road infrastructure assignments, and integrated the Quality department, participating in internal audits.
As a project manager, he is responsible for the leadership of design teams in different engineering disciplines, the management of human resources and supporting facilities, the management of subcontracted services and the coordination at the stage of technical support. He is also responsible for assuring the link with the client and that the deadlines are achieved within budget and to the expected level of quality. He is also in charge of keeping the team’s attention focused on achieving these goals.
As a department director he is in charge of coordinating and allocating human resources to different assignments, optimizing and enhancing the work efficiency inside the department, controlling the progress and performance in each assignment, identifying training needs, proposing software upgrades and equipment improvements, evaluating the efficiency of undertaken trainings, providing the necessary technical support to personnel operating in the department, accomplishing the requirements, policies and procedures of the Quality Management System and contributing for the permanent improvement of the company’s performance and engineering skills.
His experience in design has been mainly dedicated to ground support in excavations, earthworks, embankments, slope stabilisation, rockfall protection, earth retaining structures, micropiles, urban underground constructions, tunnels, special foundations and geotechnical engineering in general, among others.
His experience in the management and co-ordination field has been mainly dedicated to assignments related to Public Infrastructures, Roadways, Metro and Railways projects.
