A2 – Southern Motorway

Strongly customised to develop elements of higher technical complexity in the context of transport networks conception, GEG carried out the structural and foundations design of viaducts and two overpasses and a set of geological and geotechnical studies for one of the major roadway projects in Portugal: the Southern Motorway (A2), the main link between Lisbon and the touristic region of Algarve.

The A2 – Southern Motorway is the second largest Portuguese motorway and allows the connection between the capital and the south of the country in approximately two hours. It crosses the districts of Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro.

GEG’s role was exclusively related to the section located between Almodôvar and S. Bartolomeu de Messines.
