With the steady growth of energy consumption, the creation and maximisation of the efficiency of new energy sources has become increasingly important, in particular through the use of renewable energy sources, which allow for the creation of efficient and sustainable systems.
GEG has been participating in the development of energy production designs associated with renewable energies, in particular, hydro, wind and solar energy, investing in a more sustainable future of energy.
The studies and designs of dams and hydroelectric plants have a prominent place in GEG. Within these large infrastructures – which represent significant investments, with social, economic and environmental consequences relevant to the communities in which they operate – GEG has specialised in structural and foundations designs, consultancy and geological and geotechnical studies, hydraulic studies and risk analysis. GEG also counts on a multidisciplinary team with competencies that allow for the whole cycle of the design and work to be followed, covering all the necessary disciplines that intervene in an enterprise of this importance.
In the field of wind energy, GEG develops structural and foundations designs for wind generators, having already carried out studies for Brazil, and integrates into its team experienced engineers in this sector.
GEG has developed an innovative solar energy project in partnership with the University of Évora. At the same time, as an integral part of the development of building designs, GEG performs energy analysis for the building and develops the design of solar thermal systems, in order to favour a good energetic performance, whenever it is appropriate.
