José Barbosa graduated in June 2001 from the Engineering Faculty in Porto with a licentiate degree in Civil Engineering.

He joined GEG in November 2007, although has worked before in the company, between 2001 and 2006. Since 2014 he has been responsible for the Bridges & Viaducts of the technical department of Transports & Infrastructures.

Its academic activity includes the teaching of Mechanics and Technical Drawing disciplines at the Porto University – Civil Engineering School – Structures Department, as Monitor, between 2002 and 2006. In the 2nd Semester of the academic year 2002/2003, he taught as Monitor the discipline of Mechanics I, of the Degree in Civil Engineering of the Engineering Faculty in Porto (FEUP) – Structures Section.

His experience in project designing comprehends the structural design of bridges and buildings in both armed and pre-stressed concrete and also steel structures. Additionally, he has worked in several structures and bridges rehabilitation projects.

His experience in the design area is mainly focused on buildings structures and foundations, as well as bridges and viaducts, underpasses, overpasses, pedestrian and hydraulic passes, including manufacturing and pre-stress systems. He cumulatively performs department management functions, coordination and project management.
