ABOUT
The Science Faculty of the University of Porto was built in the first few years of the twentieth century. The different departments were moved from the old building in Porto’s city centre to new buildings.
The University complex includes seven scientific departments, several laboratories, an auditorium, a library, a calculus centre and academic services. Most departments of the Science Faculty were integrated into the University Campus III. Physics and Chemistry’ departments occupy two buildings joined by a third of administrative services. The Departments of Pure and Applied Mathematics opened in March 2002 and occupies a gross area of 10.573 m2.
The responsibility for the architectural design was in charge of the Office GALP (Architect J. Loureiro). The project has planned the construction of buildings for the departments of Geology, Zoology, Botany and Computer Science.
