Nowadays the strong pressure on urban transport in major cities, has led to an intense demand for sustainable responses to this problem, including investment in integrated urban transport plans of great scale and complexity.
The metro represents one of the most efficient alternatives for the development and modernisation of passenger transportation in densely populated urban areas, with particular advantage when integrated with other complementary transport networks such as buses and trains.
Throughout the different stages of the project, GEG promotes a strategy in the development of metro supported by four vectors:
GEG’s experience in the development of metro projects began in Porto with the elaboration of several studies and designs for the Porto metro, and later expanded with design studies in Lisbon (Sul do Tejo metro and Lisbon metro), Brazil, Qatar and Mexico.
Our activity in this sector reveal sustainable solutions integrated with the urban network and the needs of the cities where they are located, developed in both underground and surface lines, as well as elevated lines. Among the services provided in this sector, some stands out, like value engineering studies, technical and economic feasibility, conception, detailing and supervision of stations, lines and tunnels, and consultancy on tunnel boring machines.
