Mário Durão graduated in December 2001 from the Engineering Faculty in Porto with a licentiate degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnics.
He joined GEG in April 2002. Nowadays he is a project manager in the Geology and Geotechnics department.
His experience in the project designing and management field has been mainly dedicated to assignments concerning temporary and permanent earth retaining structures, tunnelling, urban underground constructions, embankments, slope and rock fall stabilization, micropiles, soil nails, anchors, jet grouting, geotechnical evaluation and monitoring, special foundations and geotechnical engineering in general, among others.
He has been responsible for consulting assistance services of Construction supervision.
He also has significant experience in modelling with several structural and geotechnical programs (FB-MultiPier, Plaxis2D 2016, Phase2 7.0, Settle3D 2.0, Slide 7.0, among other software).
He participated in several initiatives, such as the course in “Urban tunnels”; workshop about “Sampling Techniques and Quality Control in Soils and Soft rock”; course about “Embankments and Cuts on Clays”; workshop about “Tunnels for High-Speed Railways”; 3rd International Seminar of the Portuguese Commission of Tunnels and Underground Works (CPT); Seminar – Port Geotechnics – Geotechnical conditioning in port structures; Intensive Preparation Course for PMP Certification Exam.
