Airports represent strategic projects of great scale and impact on the economic activity of the regions where they are located, as they are often considered to be the main gateway to international entry and exit.
The focus of our projects in this sector involves an innovation strategy, which includes the use of the latest technologies, the flexibility and sustainability of an infrastructure that is in constant update and development.
Despite being one of the recent debut sectors of the company, having started in 2009 with the participation as consultants in Tripoli International Airport, the development of these projects is supported by GEG’s strong experience in the development of complex and innovative buildings, transport infrastructures, roads and pavements.
More recently, in 2017, our experience in this sector has been strengthened by the development of the coordination and complete detailed design of Rwanda’s new main airport, the “New Bugesera International Airport”, which will be completed in 2020 and will have an estimated initial capacity of 1,7 million passengers per year.
An engineering advisory for the KIA – Karbala International Airport project in Iraq is also under development in 2018, with an estimated initial capacity of 3 million passengers per year in the first phase.
