Signing Ceremony of the consulting contract for the new Karbala International Airport, Iraq, between GEG and the company Teebat Karbala Co.
The ceremony was held in Porto, at Palácio da Bolsa, on May 4, 2018, with the presence of the President of the National Investment Commission of Iraq, Dr. Sami Alajari, and the President and the CEO of the company Teebat Karbala, respectively Dr. Fawzi Al-Shaher and Dr. Abbas Asad. The Vice President of the Porto Commercial Association, Prof. Álvaro Costa, the head of AEP International, Dr. Jorge Marcolino and other guests, attended the event.
The airport will be located on the outskirts of Karbala, in Iraq, and will be designed accordingly to the international standards for a total capacity of 6M Pax, whereas at the first phase will operate with a capacity of 3M Pax.
The operating capacity of the runway, with a length of 4.5km, is “4F” (according to ICAO designation).
GEG reinforces the recognition of its know-how in the airport sector, with the award of this new engineering consulting contract, which follows the detailed design of the new airport in Kigali, Rwanda.
