With the constant and global increase of road traffic, roads are currently the main asset in the transport infrastructures of the communities, providing efficient connections between cities. The designed solutions must comply with all the safety and mobility conditions required for its users, the requirements of safety, quality and speed at the different stages of construction, the sustainability throughout the operation’s life cycle, foreseen and defined by the customer.

Roads and highways design is one of the most mature sectors in the company. At GEG we advise and support our clients at the different project stages (feasibility, conceptual and detailed), choosing the best engineering solutions throughout the entire infrastructure life cycle (design, construction and operation).

For GEG, the development of projects in this sector initially occurred in the components of greater complexity and technical requirement: bridges and viaducts, interchanges integrated into large urban systems or highway communications. Subsequently, GEG acquired a broad knowledge of all the disciplines that make up the road design, presenting today a team with strong experience and technical competence in areas such as road geometry design, drainage, geotechnics and earthworks.

GEG has participated in local and international projects of a large scale and complexity, delivering engineering solutions of excellence that respond to challenges such as insertion into dense urban networks, areas of high seismic risk, issues with traffic congestion or the need for infrastructure refurnishing due to ageing or serviceability deficit.
