GEG at the National Meeting of Structural Concrete – BE2012

27 October, 2012

The National Meeting of Structural Concrete (BE2012) was held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) between 24 and 26 October 2012, in Porto.

The BE2012 consisted of a wide forum for technical discussion and contacts exchange, in order to transform the actual challenges of structural engineering in new opportunities. The increasing internationalisation of the sector, deepening of the latest knowledge and experience related to conception and design, new materials, the construction and rehabilitation of concrete structures and the implementation of Eurocodes, represent some of the topics discussed at the meeting.

In this meeting, GEG presented the project “Lisbon’s Internal Ring Roadway (CRIL) – Benfica’s Tunnel“, with emphasis on the suspension of the Águas Livres and Francesas Aqueducts. The articles exposed some of the aspects and conditions of the structural design project of Benfica’s tunnel, inserted at the end of the Lisbon’s Internal Ring Roadway (CRIL), a major roadway linking the south and north of Lisbon, crossing densely urbanised areas of the municipalities of Amadora and Lisbon.
