Luanda Bay Towers

ABOUT

Constituted by a significant set of public and private works (with an emphasis given to the depollution and dredging of the bay, the enlargement of the Avenida 4 de Fevereiro, the construction of parking lots and the creation of public spaces for leisure), the Luanda Bay project aims a thorough requalification and the complete urban reordering of the marginal area of the Angolan capital. In addition to the environmental effects, the project will fill the gap of housing, commerce, tourism and leisure, and will increase the attractiveness of the Marginal of Luanda.

GEG’s involvement in this project consisted in the development of the structural conceptual design for the two-towers – one with 37 floors and the other with 24 floors – as well as the development of engineering design of other disciplines.

The complex of buildings, designed to be located on an artificial island with a privileged view to the Bay of Luanda, will give rise to a construction area of over 200.000 m2.

The structure of the towers consists on a central core made of reinforced concrete, contravening a structure made up of metallic profiles. The foundation system chosen was the deep foundation, with reinforced concrete piles.
