ABOUT

Within the whole framework of the project for restructuring the road network of the Port of Leixões, new entrance gates for custom control at the south area of the port were also designed.

Along the functional issues to be considered in the design of a gate structure, the client required that the structure should stand out against the whole port environment. Thus a steel structure was designed with that purpose while enabling, at the same time, a faster assembly and construction time.

The structure is constituted by a curved roof supported by four W-shape steel frames, joined on the top by the main beams. The columns are released on their base with the aim of annulling the bending stress. The structure comprised also a truck inspection-gallery, located 5 meters above ground.
