Solid bulk quay enlargement

The scope of this project was the enlargement of the Port of Figueira da Foz, namely the solid bulk quay. The new structure increased the port’s available stock area, and allowed also the navigation of bigger ships, with larger tonnage.

The extension of the solid bulk quay is part of the arrangement and expansion plan of the Port of Figueira da Foz. This extension stays on the right bank of River Mondego, immediately downstream of the road bridge and the quay of bulk solids.

The enlargement consisted on a mainly precast structure, founded on 1000 mm diameter piles. The structure has eight independent modules, with a total length of 236 meters.
